DriveCostCheck answers a single practical question: what will this vehicle cost to drive? — in fuel or electricity, per month, per year, and per mile.

The answer is only useful if you can trust how it was made. So every result on this site starts from one exact, official EPA vehicle record; every assumption (miles, driving mix, prices) is shown next to the number and editable; and every formula is published on the methodology page and covered by automated tests.

What this site is not

• Not a total-cost-of-ownership calculator — no depreciation, insurance, maintenance, or financing guesses.
• Not a review site — no ratings, no "best car" lists, no reliability claims. Comparisons state measured cost differences, never that one vehicle is better.
• Not affiliated with the EPA, DOE, or any automaker. Vehicle data comes from the public FuelEconomy.gov datasets, documented on the sources page.
• Not ad-driven or sponsored. There are no affiliate placements at launch.

Accuracy

EPA figures are standardized estimates; real-world costs vary. When a record is missing a field, the site says not published instead of inventing a value, and plug-in hybrids get the careful treatment their two energy sources require. Spot an error?
